Moral of the Spider Story

September 5th, 2005 -- Posted in people | 2 Comments »

It’s about time I share my thoughts on the moral of the Story about a Spider. Some of the comments contributed have mentioned what I meant to say…

The Bunny’s Tail : Vanity... One should be aware what looks good and what may look way out for oneself. A fluffy tail looks cute on a bunny, but on a girl she might look like a playboy bunny. Figure it out yourself how you can carry off with something or not.

The Deer’s Legs : Ambition... One can get ambitious through envy over what others have achieved. Sometimes we should reflect on where we stand and consider our strength and limitation to achieve our goals. When determination can be a powerful drive to achievement, impulsive desire to be someone we are not can lead to dead ends. Know yourself and go at your own pace. Two paces leaps can make us move too fast to notice what we might have missed.

The Swan’s Crown : Self-acceptance... Again, one should always be true of one’s own self. When you start imagining being someone else, and subsequently try to be like that person, you will end up making a fool of yourself. There are many names for people like this: fake, imposter, copycat, poser, shadow etc. You can lie to impress, but once the lie is exposed you’d find that you’ve become a big fat lie to yourself.

The Angel Wings : Sincerity... The first person who knows if you’re sincere or not is no one else but yourself. It’s a natural reaction that when one shows kindness to you, you will return that kindness out of appreciation. However, some motives of returning kindness is not for appreciation, but for creating emotional obligation for more kindness in return. Notice the key word ‘obligation’? Sincerity can never co-exist with obligation.

The Spider : Self-judgement... When you encounter an ugly personality, be sure to look at yourself first before making any comment about others. This is a common saying… “Look upon yourself before you judge others”. Words can fly out of the mouth free of charge, but the meanings can become hefty ah-long interests charge on your own personality.

So here it is. Things that ran through my mind when I wrote and review the story. Any comment/criticism? I gladly welcome any, for different opinions only help open my mind.
