To be honest, I’m utterly bored when abstaining from alcohol.
Not that I drink a lot. I used to but those were the younger puking days. I could easily settle for Johnny Walker these days before the abstinence.
I’m abstaining because of my liver. The last time I had a blood test in April, doc told me I’ve got fatty liver and it’s affecting my cholesterol level. That’s why I’m working hard at the gym these days. So that’s why I’m not drinking at all.
But I hope this will end soon. I long to visit the clubs here in KL. Clubbing without drinking can be torturous.
So for now, I’m settling for coffee and earl grey. Tricky part about that is the different venues. Kopithiams (coffee shops) may work for a while but I get bored easily. The kopi tok-kok sessions can be a great way to catch up with friends, but I’d get restless. I’d rather have my caffeine overdose at home where I’d have my trusty PSP handy.
I’m still a lazy mofo… Heehee
Adrian has been asking me out for dinner/kopi so many times, but I’ve been too busy/tired with work+gym. Sorry bro. Haven’t and won’t forget ya.
FTOTD:
Mellow yet catchy. Remixed by Gareth Emery. Emery was aka GTR and is the creator of my all time favorite hard trance track Flood Control.
Coming soon to MOS Singapore on 21st July, 2008. Shuffle presents YOJI (formerly known as Yoji Biomehanika) from Japan. If you remember my introductory post on Yoji here, he’s one of the most innovative, if not the greatest, hard trance DJs in the world.
He was just here for the XLive @ Genting this month. Good to know he’s back for another NRG performance.
Don’t miss it!
FTOTD (Favorite Track Of The Day):
Soothing tune. Not too busy. Nice as an intro for a set:
... And I thought driving in Singapore was stressful. Driving in Malaysia is worse.
A few observations:
Pointless to draw the lane markings. Waste of paint. Nobody uses them.
Speed limits are of little or no use. Every car is either far faster or far slower than the limit anyway.
Note to car manufacturers: You can save costs by doing without signal lamps.
Note to car manufacturers: You can do without side windows. Only front visibility is required and used in Malaysia.
A new highway system is needed in Malaysia. Just like how a separate road is built for motocycles, a separate road should be be designed for micro cars under 1500cc. They are no different from motocycles running at 50km/h.
Strange but true. Construction tractors and bulldozers are allowed on highways… legally or not.
I don’t like body mass, not even if it’s all muscle. I joined the gym to shed some fatty tissue off my body, especially from my internal organs e.g. liver.
That’s why I joined the gym.
And the trainers, they’re supposed to help members with personalized training programs and specific tips to attain the goals they seek. In a sublimal way, they’re supposed to be motivational figures for members.
I want a body like that…
That’s easy when male members seek hard buffy bodies like most male gym trainers. It’s also easy for female members since most female members look a far fetch from the healthy looking female trainers. It was not the case for the RPM
Had a whole weekends of edginess and lotsa movies. Even got a rheumatic knee.
Not sure if all these are due to working out at the gym 4 times last week…
Losing weight is hard work…
Actually, my main aim is to reduce BMI. Need to lose the fat in my liver and keep my cholesterol level healthy.
Anyway, here’s my favorite track these couple days. It helped me soothe my nerves.
No, it’s not the machine that helps run your heart. This is actually a pocket-size DJ system developed by Tonium.
The device has a 120 Gb hard drive, multiple file format support (MP3, AAC, WMA, WMA Lossless, WAV, VBR and Ogg format), an SNR of 103, and many basic DJ audio tools. The DJ tools include a Line out Crossfader, a Headphones Crossfader, Bend, Pitch, DJ Pause, Cue, Loop, EQ, Filter, Sound FX, Headphone Jack, Line out jack and a USB 2.0 connector. Any mix that is created can be saved and legally shared with the rest of the world.
I’m not a DJ and I don’t have the mean to invest on a full deck set. If the functionalities are as feasible as featured in the tutorials on Pacemaker’s official website, this will be a great alternative for DJ-wannabe n00bs like me.
It’s important to note that the Pacemaker is not meant to replace the conventional bulkier vinyl/CD DJ equipments. It is designed to mimic the functionalities of the professional equipments in a miniature scale so you can test/trial your ideas on the go without being restrained on the location of your DJ equipments.
Trance trio Above & Beyond extended their famed Anjunabeats series with the latest Anjunabeats 100.
The name ‘Anjunabeats’ origins from Anjuna, which is a village in Goa. Renowned for its beaches, temples and world heritage architecture, Goa was a favorite hippies destination during the sixties and seventies, and Anjuna was like the hippie capital of Goa. Today, Anjuna is still a hot spot for beaches and is often called the birth place and home of Trance Music by many renowned DJs, including Above & Beyond.
Anjunabeats is not exactly as vocal/dramatic as Tiesto and not filled with anthem-like tracks like Gatecrasher. It’s rather melodic and relaxing at some points. If you like Tiesto’s ISOS series, you will like Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats.
This is CD2 of Anjunabeats 100. Tracklist:
1. Anjunabeats – Volume One
2. David West feat. Andreas Hermansson – Larry Mountains 54
3. Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor – Air For Life
4. Aalto – 5
5. Maor Levi – Reflect
6. Signalrunners – Aria Epica
7. Luminary – Amsterdam
8. Endre – Kallocain
9. OceanLab – Clear Blue Water
10. Smith & Pledger – Believe
11. Nitromethane – Time To Die

What do you get when you have a public holiday on a Monday?
A LONG WEEKEND!
(Yay!!! That’s what we just had. Today is a public holiday for me…)
But what do you get when you totally forgot to make plans?
A BORING LONG WEEKEND…
(Booo!!! That’s what we got too… )
We wanted to make last minute plan but it didn’t happen. It was hard to make any room reservation anywhere just 3 days before the long weekends start. Every weekend hotspot around KL seems fully booked.
So what we did was start a Nike Hunting Trip.
I was hunting for a new pair of trainers for gym and Sunsun was looking for a pair of yoga capri pants. So we set out (almost) everyday looking at the different Nike outlets around KL for what we were looking for.
Remember I mentioned about the new trainers I need on Friday? Well, we decided to head for MidValley after work for dinner and catch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Not bad a movie for a TGIF mood. Kinda darker than the first…
So I digress…
Anyway, before the movie started, we started our Nike Hunting Trip at MidValley. There’s one Nike athelete boutique, one Nike lifestyle store and two sports multi-brand outlet stores. I almost got this pair of Nike Free Wildwood, which is an ACG. Not exactly the colors I’m looking for. No luck for Sunsun either. Wrong design/color or no size. Bummer.
On Saturday, we tried our luck at One Utama. There were two Nike athelete boutiques, one Nike Women and one Nike lifestyle. No luck for Sunsun but I found my trainers! Not exactly my first choice (I was looking for a pair of black Nike Free Everyday running trainers) but I’m happy with this Nike Free Gym…
Rest at home on Sunday.
Today, we went to Sunway. The new wing of the mall is open. More shops. Nice… I got an OriginalFake and two Stussy tees. Still no luck for Sunsun. We might as well look for the yoga capri pants at Queensway back in Singapore.
