Hua Hin 2010

September 27th, 2010 -- Posted in travel | No Comments »

Hua Hin, the beach resort town famous for its close association with the Thai royalty, is located 2-hour drive south of Bangkok. Before being a beach resort address, the village was inhibited by a group of farmers who moved south from their drought stricken agricultural home of Phetchaburi Province in 1834. When King Prajadhipok (King Rama VII) spotted the beauty of the land and the beach in 1921, he built a summer palace there and named it Klai Kang Won. After this, a series of other palaces followed. The actual name ‘Hua Hin’ was coined by His Royal Highness Prince Krom Phra Naresworarit who named the beach next to his palace.

At Hua Hin, we stayed at a contemporary styled hotel called The Lapa Hotel. Started and run by one of Sunsun’s relatives, The Lapa is a relatively small but exclusive resort with space lavish suites and villas. Though not directly next to the coast, the beach is accessible easily by walking across the road.

Being a fan of contemporary/minimalist style furnishing, the suite we stayed was large and roomy enough for Nita to run around and roam for hours. Other than the toiletry at the wash basin, the room is child-safe to leave Nita to roam by herself while we rested after the long drive.
